itelbpo’s Bahamas operation is slated to grow by 100 percent as a result of a newly won contract that serves the utilities industry in the United States. The business process outsourcing (BPO) company currently has 150 Bahamian associates at its Grand Bahama operation and 1,500 across its entire operation. According to a release, Itelbpo specializes in servicing myriad industries, including utilities, telecommunications and travel for local and international clients. “Itelbpo has also created a tremendous amount of opportunities in Freeport, including the provision of jobs and increased business for linked industries such as tourism, transportation, health, food & beverage, and construction,” the release states. “Formed in 2012, Itelbpo is the region’s outsourcing leader and the largest home grown Caribbean outsourcer, with capacity throughout Jamaica’s largest cities, and a continually growing presence in The Bahamas, Mexico and the United States. “Itelbpo seeks to attract, develop and retain the best talent available in The Bahamas. As part of employee development, Itelbpo incorporates a continuous learning program that ensures each employee continues to learn and grow, not only during the period of onboarding, but throughout their entire tenure with the company.” The company said it plans to expand its operations and grow its global workforce to 5,000 staff members in the next five years. The release said its plan includes “bringing its work-from-home model into the Caribbean”. “The planned expansion includes staff increases at its Freeport location, as well as continued diversification of the services offered there,” the release points out.
