itel Receives Two GSAJ Awards at Annual Ceremony

November 25, 2021

Montego Bay, Jamaica: November 25, 2021. On November 10, 2021, itel was recognized for excellence by the Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ) at their Annual Awards Ceremony. The customer experience provider received two awards: “Highest Increase in Employment Large Enterprise” and “COVID-19 Resilience”.

itel has demonstrated incredible growth over the past 9 years while maintaining a strong family-oriented culture. A local success story that has gone international, the company has reached 5,000 employees and continues to expand into the United States, Latin America, and Caribbean. Most recently, itel celebrated grand openings of two new sites in Indiana, U.S.A. and San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Since the onset of the global pandemic, itel has been a role model for COVID-19 safety, playing an integral role in developing health and safety protocols that were adopted by the industry. Under its #LetTheProtocolsWork approach, itel maintained business continuity while protecting its team’s health and safety.

itel has also built new COVID-19-ready facilities in Jamaica and Saint Lucia. The sites are specifically designed to meet the new health and safety requirements brought on by the pandemic: itel’s new landmark ‘Chalmers’ building, a 90,000 square feet, state-of-the-art facility in Kingston, Jamaica, will go live in January of 2022; and the Saint Lucia operations that opened in July of 2020 in the Hewanorra Freezone have been expanded to include an outdoor lunch and wellness center and additional COVID-ready buildings that will launch in the coming year.

itel's Head of Projects, Janecia Welds-Wainwright, who oversees the buildout of itel’s new facilities, accepted both awards on behalf of the company. "I'd like to thank the GSAJ for recognizing itel's progress over the years. We've opened new facilities and expanded into new markets, and we couldn't have done it without the support of our incredible leadership team, clients, and partners. In terms of COVID management and ensuring our employees' well-being, I am proud of the way our team has managed the pandemic.”

The GSAJ Excellence in Industry Award is intended to distinguish industry organizations, members, or non-members, for exemplary work in the Global Services Sector.
